Norwood Food and Wine Festival

Or... Street Party! Great fun. I went with usagi, and met ToTD, Harry and Mum there. The focus is food and wine, so I'll just say I had an excellent Peking Duck, and a dry full-bodied Stonehaven Cab Sav from Coonawarra. The highlight of the day, though, was the performances by a Taiko drumming group.

As well as the rhythm, I was fascinated by the choreography - not just flashy stick-work, but finer details such as footwork. A child about 2 years old was dancing. If he was mine, I'd have scooped him up and kissed him all over. I noticed something odd - I could feel the rhythm coming up through the ground, but my right foot only felt connected when the left was completely empty.

I heard someone behind me comment that the "Australian" woman in the group was pretty good, too. I should think so! She trained in Japan, and brought the art back here where she formed the group, having taught all the other members playing that day!
