face2face

face2face comprises two works, inextricably linked by themes and imagery: Face Value's facade is the skin that attempts to hold back inner turmoil - About Face is the room that entraps it. Each work has an accompanying monologue...

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
YOU ARE WHAT YOU WEAR
YOU ARE WHAT YOU READ
        WHAT YOU OWN
        WHAT YOU AVOID
YOU ARE WHAT YOU REGRET
        AND WHAT YOU DENY
YOU ARE WHAT YOU IGNORE
        WHAT YOU ACCEPT
        AND WHAT YOU TOLERATE
YOU ARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE
        WHAT YOU KNOW
        WHAT YOU RESIST
                 ACCOMPLISH
                 ATTRACT
                 DEFY
                 WANT
                 LOVE
                 FEAR

I find this amazing when read in counterpoint to the Fight Club mantra - You are not your ... - I hope I can hold them side by side for ever.

I am AND I am not: everything I take into me,
everything I push away,
everything that emerges from me,
and everything I hold inside.
I'm a flow that arises from the universe and returns to it,
a current running through a sea of possibilities.
I'm a precise point in space-time,
every moment is a new me.

I don't know if you can hear me
I don't know
Up here above the weather
Someone I once was
Someone I am but can't recall
I am Eve's ineffective radar, failing faith, only hope.
I am Eve's need to go back and fix things, to repair things
 that have been broken.
I am Eve's disproportionate acceptance of blame
I am Eve's suppressed hysteria
Dreaming while you're awake is a frightening contradiction
Confusing yourself is a way to stay honest
If you stare at the clouds long enough you'll see a face
If you stare at anything long enough you'll see a face.

I had to laugh at Confusing yourself is a way to stay honest and cry at Someone I am but can't recall. I can't see that this works when divorced from its drama, but I'm obsessed with detail so, having transcribed it from the program, I'll leave it here. I'm sure you'll make of it what you will, or ignore it completely if that's what it merits.
